Key Rights
- Travelers will receive
all essential information regarding the package before entering into the
package travel contract.
- At least one trader is
always responsible for the proper performance of all travel services
included in the contract.
- Travelers are provided
with an emergency contact number or details of a point of contact where
they can reach the organizer or travel agent.
- Travelers can transfer
the package to another person, with reasonable prior notice and possibly
at an additional cost.
- The price of the package
may increase only if costs increase (for example, fuel prices) and if this
is explicitly stated in the contract, and in any case, no later than 20
days before the package starts. If the price increase exceeds 8% of the
package price, the traveler has the right to terminate the contract. If
the organizer retains the right to increase the price, the traveler has
the right to a price reduction if the corresponding costs decrease.
- Travelers can terminate
the contract without paying a termination fee and receive a full refund if
any essential aspect of the package, other than the price, is
significantly changed. If, before the package starts, the trader
responsible for the package cancels it, travelers are entitled to a refund
and compensation, if applicable.
- Travelers can terminate
the contract without paying a termination fee before the package starts in
exceptional circumstances, for example, if serious security issues at the
destination are likely to affect the package.
- Additionally, travelers
may terminate the contract at any time before the package starts by paying
a reasonable and justified termination fee.
- If, after the package has
started, significant parts of the package cannot be provided as agreed,
appropriate alternative arrangements must be offered to the traveler at no
extra cost. Travelers may terminate the contract without paying a fee if
services are not performed in accordance with the contract and this
significantly affects the execution of the package, and the organizer does
not resolve the issue.
- Travelers are also
entitled to a price reduction and/or compensation for damages in case of
non-performance or improper performance of travel services.
- The organizer must
provide assistance if the traveler encounters difficulties.
- If the organizer becomes
insolvent, payments made will be refunded. If the organizer becomes
insolvent after the package has started and if transportation is included
in the package, repatriation of travelers is ensured. And Opera Travel Ltd
has entered into an insolvency protection agreement with the Association
of Cyprus Travel & Tourism Agents (ACTTA). Travelers may contact ACTTA
or, if necessary, the Consumer Protection Service (Agapinoros 2, IRIS
Building, 1421 Nicosia, tel. +357 22200900, email: ccps@mcit.gov.cy) if
